green paws

Scout helped me mow the grass last night! His paws are green to prove it. I shouldn't have waited a day to take a picture of them, but they were glowing green last night!!

SYTYCD tour

Chris and I went to the So You Think You Can Dance tour last week. He got me watching the show and it was cool to see it live. The dancers did the dialogue also, so some of it was VERY rehearsed and a little cheesy. But overall I enjoyed it.

Here are a few pictures of the show. The stage was so bright it was hard to get good pictures, but I tried! There's also three shorts videos that have better lighting.

Here's the intro.

I was looking through pictures tonight and thought I'd post a few from this time last year. I love looking through pictures that I haven't seen in a while.

busy bees

Well, I'm sad that summer is really OVER. I know it has been for a few weeks, but it's time for me to accept it.

I so enjoyed spending the summer with Chris. It was his first summer in the states in 6 years! He taught a class the first summer session and a long summer session. But even with those, I got to see him a lot and have him home more than during school. Here is our calendar during July. You can compare in a minute to September.

Since school has started again...Chris is taking 9 hours of grad courses. He is TA'ing 9 hours (i think that's right) of undergrad courses. He is the editor of the Maroon Weekly. When fall softball starts he'll be the PA announcer for those games. And the list goes on. I am very proud of him how he juggles everything. On top of all that, he is a wonderful husband and is always there for me when I need him.

The past few weeks have been NUTS. School starting and getting the paper running again have been enough to keep Chris busy. I've been working 50+ hrs/wk the past few week also. I haven't picked up any overtime this week and it's the first week in a few that I haven't felt like I'm always at work. I know as we get into the swing of things the semester will smooth out and fly by. I know we are so very blessed to both have great jobs and each other. :)

Here is a glimpse at our September calendar...

puppies

Becca is my youngest sister. She recently moved to College Station, leaving my parents living without any children in the house.

When my parents came in for the weekend, we took a little visit to the puppy store. It was love at first sight, really.

So, meet Bentley. He is a 3 month old Morkie (maltese-yorkie).

You may wonder why there are two small fluff balls playing with Scout in the pictures.

Well, my sister, Katy, was also in for the weekend. It was love at first sight for her also. Katy has always had such a sweet heart for animals. They got Bentley's brother and named him Tanner. He is spunky and just stinkin' cute.

football season is finally back!

I love college football!

Living in College Station has mostly contributed to that. I love the spirit of game day. I also love sharing that experience with my family. My parents, middle sister and her boyfriend came into town last weekend for the home opener vs. SFA. (my parents' alma mater!) They smoked SFA (as expected) 48-7.

Since Becca lives in College Station now, she also got to experience her first A&M football game.

successful dinner

I don't like to cook. There, I said it.
It's actually a complex emotion, because I love the satisfaction of cooking for someone and them enjoying it. But I hate the stress of coming up with something to cook and then feeling incompetent throughout the "cooking" process. So maybe I like cooking...IF I know what I want to cook AND I have all the ingredients needed AND I know the people I'm cooking for like what I'm cooking... complex? Point made.

Well, since I work nights, I usually get out of cooking three nights a week. I guess if I was a better wife I would prepare dinner for Chris before I left..but.....I don't.

All that to share with you what I "made" for dinner tonight. It's been in our freezer for weeks and I finally pulled it out today. I included a pic of the bag below in case you are curious enough to try it for yourself. I was pretty skeptical..chinese food from a freezer bag, really?

It was DELICIOUS! I was very surprised and even cleaned my plate! The best part was that it was all in the bag and it only took about 12 minutes. Another successful dinner. :)

everyday cookies

I wanted to share a cookie recipe that I recently rediscovered. My mom used to make these when I was younger and I love them! I don't know which ingredient leaves you wanting more, but it's impossible to only eat one.

Everyday Cookies
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup margarine
1 cup oil
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup Rice Krispies
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans
3 1/2 cups flour

Mix all ingredients together and chill for an hour or
longer. Make into small balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and press out with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

a little catch up

Chris and I have now been married for over a year. Sounds like a long time compared to saying how many months. The weekend before our anniversary we took a trip to dallas. We attended a wedding on Saturday and the rest of the weekend had some time to just relax and go shopping.

Here's us at the wedding.
We are very proud of our find on priceline.com. Hard to read but the room we were in is listed on the back of the door as $429/night. I know that's obviously higher than ANYONE would pay, but even online they have it listed as $159.85. We paid $55/night!!
On our way home from Dallas we stopped by the Whoop barn and got a few pictures for the cover of the Maroon Weekly. I love this!
Fast forward a week...my parents came in for the weekend because my baby sister moved to College Station to start college at Blinn. I'm very excited about her being here. My parents also brought a family friend, Addisen. She's 4, going on 20. Here we are coloring.
And the guys playing xbox.

Addi used to be TERRIFIED of dogs. Seriously, she would run screaming the other way until the dog couldn't get to her. But she gradually has warmed up to Scout and will even pick him up!
